Nolan is an Italian company which was founded in 1972.
Nolangroup is the only company in the sector to produce all of its helmets in Italy. That is being done through a fully-integrated production process, from the receiving of the raw materials to the final assembly of the product.
It is the largest producer of helmets in Europe, with over 400,000 helmets manufactured per year. A team of 360 people working in a single location which covers an area of 31,000 square metres. Nolangroup produces helmets in polycarbonate under the brand names Nolan and Grex. It also produces helmets in composite fibres, under the X-lite brand.
The company has earned its place in the market through its commitment to safety and quality, and its drive for innovation. It was the first company in Europe to produce a full-face helmet in thermoplastic material. Also the first to introduce important innovations.
For Nolan, races have always been synonymous with Communication and Research. They represent the ideal testing ground for the emergence of vital technical solutions for the mass-production of all models.
In the racing division, specialised technicians prepare the models destined for an 80 riders team. Riders competing in the MotoGP and Superbike Championships, as well as other minor championships.
Ideas begin to take shape and are brought together in the form of an initial aesthetic prototype. This prototype is the result of a combination of evolved computerised design techniques and traditional methods of manual modelling. This is followed by the actual design of the helmet. In this stage, avant-garde computerised design techniques allow the creation of the first functional prototype and the simulation of the fluid-dynamic and aero-acoustic behaviour of the product. Road, track and wind tunnel tests allow the collection of useful data, used to perfect the products performance.
